A Note from the Governor

Maria Peeples
Welcome 2010 delegates,
I want to start off by expressing how excited I am about being your Governor for the 2010 Youth in Government year. I have been changed forever by this program and feel honored to hold a position where I can help other students discover its greatness to the fullest extent. My Lieutenant Governor Jacob and I are very optimistic about the year to come and are looking forward to working with all of you for another successful session of Model Government.
The most important issue that we are beginning to address is that of recruitment. Many of you may have noticed that our numbers have been low in the last couple of years, and that is definitely a concern of ours as well. However, we have the power to improve participation. This is going to mean going into your schools and talking about YIG and telling all of your friends about how much fun you've had in the program. Jacob and I are working hard to figure out ways to reach new students who may be interested in joining Youth in Government. It's going to be up to all of us to get our numbers up again.

Jacob and I believe very strongly that it is important to have an open line of communication between all delegates. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for the program, please feel free to contact us at any time. I look forward to meeting all of you and can't wait for another year of Wisconsin Youth in Government!
Sincerely,
Governor Maria Peeples
